Meet Stephanie.
I'm Stephanie, a board-certified Physician Assistant specializing in adult and geriatric psychiatry and the founder of Wolf Laurel Mental Health & Wellness.
I am also a U.S. Army combat veteran who served eight years as a medic before becoming a PA. My approach to psychiatric care is deeply informed by both my military service and my years in clinical medicine. I understand the culture, stressors, and long-term mental health challenges many veterans face, and I believe meaningful care begins with trust, respect, and shared understanding.

A strong medical foundation.
I've practiced as a Physician Assistant for over 12 years — eight years as a hospitalist caring for medically complex adults, and the last four and a half years in psychiatry.
Before PA school, I served eight years as a U.S. Army combat medic. That grounding in emergency and internal medicine still shapes how I approach psychiatric symptoms — within the broader context of physical health, medications, and chronic conditions.
Today, much of my work is in skilled nursing and long-term care facilities — where I partner with nursing teams and medical directors to support resident outcomes, appropriate psychotropic use, Gradual Dose Reduction, and CMS survey readiness.

My approach to care.
I practice evidence-based psychiatry with attention to the whole person — not just the symptoms.
I strive to provide care that feels steady, respectful, and unhurried — particularly for individuals navigating trauma, aging, chronic illness, or major life transitions.
- Thoughtful, individualized medication management — never one-size-fits-all.
- Conservative prescribing when appropriate, with regular review.
- Careful listening and collaboration at every step.
- Coordination with families and other healthcare providers.
Areas of focus.
My clinical work centers on the conditions where time, continuity, and a steady hand matter most.

A life shaped by place and people.
Outside of work, I'm a wife, mother, and proud resident of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Living here reinforces the importance of balance, perspective, and thoughtful care — values I bring into every patient interaction.
If you're looking for psychiatric care grounded in medical experience, military understanding, and genuine human connection, I would be honored to work with you.
